We are all holding our breathe and wishing all excess moving air in the direction of your transom to speed you home. Go you good thing and the heartiest of best wishes from down under.
Outstanding sailing and an even better effort in sharing it so lucidly and warmly with us all.

I'm hoping that the 'Hoe club' on Plymouth's famous Hoe Esplanade does a rum punch tonight.Cos that's where we will be celebrating your completion of the 'Route de Rhum'.Been onboard with you (in spirit) every mile, ate the porridge, drank the chocolate! And now looking forward to sharing the alcholol! Here's hoping you can skirt around the wind holes and bring the good ship 'DMS' to the finish line. Cheers Colin.

A grey Saturday here in the South East of England and inbetween marking my students' work and doing the housework still tracking your progress. You've only got about 10 nm to go so i guess this is well done on a fabulous achievement.

Many congratulations, Pete! We have so enjoyed following the race and your progress, daily, and will feel quite lost without a tracker to check on each morning! Pity about that last-minute wind hole, but 14th place is more than creditable in such a large field and you seemed to have a cracking good race. It\'s been a pleasure and a privilage, as always, to feel a part of the adventure. Enjoy a well-earned party.....!

After the whole of the north Atlantic, it could still be a port and Starboard call that decides the final position! I'm assuming here that looking at the wind charts you are on Starboard tack. Good pace at present looking at the last sched.Let's hope that it stays way. Get in quickly now, my nerves are shot! It's worse than being on the helm for four hours before the start with all the other traffic on the water!Mind you, I wouldn't have missed it for anything! Cheers, Colin.

From Natalie (4 years old): Pete, I want to send a cup cake to you to make you feel good. A chocolate cup cake with sprinkles on it so you can eat it up!
Pete, not sure how well Natalie's cup cake would hold up in the mail so we will share it here to celebrate your crossing the finish line. We are enjoying the race. Have a great finish!
Cheers,
Dave

Hey Pete, great to see you storming home over the final miles and well positioned to get a few more scalps. It\'s been frustrating to watch the potential of the southern option fade as it was looking pretty good there for a while. Having said that... overall it may still have been the best option as you have come through the fleet from where you were when you took it... and let\'s face it... you\'ve had a better ride in warmer winds along the way. It really has been a fascinating race to follow with what is shaping up to be a great little final chapter. So I\'m pretty sure you will get your \'top third of the fleet\' result, the question is how far up that third you can now get. The weather chart (for what it\'s worth) shows you powering straight in whilst some of the others are going to be gybing down wind. Hmmm. Be funny if you came back in with Damien S. whom you spent so much time neck and neck with earlier on! A good or bad squall might make all the difference. Great stuff and good luck with the last miles.
Paul and Helena.

Greetings from Ireland, I am new to yachting and saw your story in the yacht mag last week, I found it very interesting, the rescue in the Vendee was obviously impressive and the change in direction afterwards made an interesting read. I decided to look up your blog to see how you are getting on, too bad you took the southerly option but great to see you are enjoying it all. I will keep watch to see if you enter more of the big races in the future.
All the very best,
Colum

I just heard your latest vacation and you seem to have a very good time. I am impressed by your performance considered, as you say, the little training you've had before the start as well as the fact that you have not done solo racing for years. I't's a good thing to see you back, definitely! Have you considered future C40 races? Have a safe journey until Pointe à Pitre!!! A french fan - Christian
